THE END OF Q

It is our unhappy duty to report the death of veteran actor Desmond Llewelyn, the gadget master Q who has appeared in 17 of the Bond films. The 85-year-old star died in hospital after being cut from the wreckage of his Renault Megane after a head on collision with a Fiat Brava. Mr. Llewelyn was returning alone from a book signing session when the accident occurred. Police on the scene helicopter the star to a hospital in Eastbourne, Sussex, but he died at 5.10pm of massive internal injures. 2 other people were injured (One seriously) in the crash, which took place at a notorious accident black spot on a fast stretch of the A27. Mr. Llewelyn was a father of 2 and had four grandchildren. Although best known for the James Bond series the actor also made many TV and film appearances including the classic Danger Man episode, ‘The Unambiguous Mr. Lovegrove. He will be sorely missed and our deepest sympathies are extended to his family.

CULTV EXCLUSIVE – THE WORLDS FIRST REVIEW OF THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH

Greed, revenge, world domination through the power of oil, high-tech terrorism…. These are only some of the ingredients of the latest 007 adventure which begins outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, continues with a spectacular high speed boat chase up London's River Thames, and progresses through the highlands of Scotland before Bond survives an avalanche in the Caucasus Mountains and a potential nuclear explosion in a vast circular oil pipeline in Turkey. As James Bond tries to protect Elektra, the beautiful daughter of assassinated oil magnate, Sir Robert King, from a notorious international terrorist and with nuclear weapons expert Dr. Christmas Jones at his side, he travels to the Caspian sea and Istanbul where a former enemy becomes a formidable ally before the final dramatic confrontation in the claustrophobic confines of a nuclear submarine beneath the surface of the Bosphorus………

But enough of the press release, I'm sure by this stage everyone knows the basic plot of the movie and then some. The big question has to be…. Is the film any bloody good?

Well, the film opens with the most spectacular action openings in Bonds history, (Possible movie history) has a possible farewell scene from Q and contains more humour than any other Bond film ever. On the down side Carlyle’s Renard is disappointing, considering what he is capable of, (But this is more due to the script than his acting ability) and the film could do with 20 minuets cut out to give it more pace. Like the other two Brosnan movies, the real shame about it, is that you can see how it could have been better, but unlike the other two, if this film was better, it could be one of the best Bond films of all time! All in all the best Bond adventure in 10 years, now that cant be a bad thing.  – 8.5/10

THESE ARE THE OFFICAL 'THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH POSTERS'

        US POSTER                    EUROPEAN POSTER

CULTV EXCLUSIVE: Reports that various actors will be taking over the role of 007 would seem unlikely considering that Bond 20 should be released in 2002 (With Brosnan) to coincide with the movie franchises 40th anniversary and therefore no casting should take place until 2004 at the earliest!
The rumours about who or what group would sing the title song for The World Is Not Enough are finally be over. CulTV can exclusively reveal that Garbage has got the job.  Although an American, the band is fronted by a Brit which can't be a bad thing. The song has been written by Don Black and David Arnold and should be a big hit.

The next Bond movie, dubbed Bond 19, will be  The World Is Not Enough.

Pierce Brosnan will star as James Bond

Release Date: November 19, 1999

MGM confirmed that British director Michael Apted will direct Bond 19.

The screen writing team of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, of "Let Him Have It" fame, have written the script.

Robert Carlyle will play the villain. A Bond villain is usually strange in some way, and this one is no different. He's got a bullet in his head that makes him immune to pain. The villains name is Renard.

Denise Richards is the next Bond girl One of Hollywood's most sought after young actresses,
Denise Richards, has been cast in the next Bond movie. Richards will play a Bond girl who knows a lot about nukes.

French actress Sophie Marceau has been cast as the other Bond girl, Elektra King, in the next Bond movie.

Bruce Feirstein, the writer who worked on the scripts for both GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never
Dies, is back for his third mission -- to rewrite the script for Bond 19.

Q IS STAYING! Reports that Desmond Llewelyn is too old to play Q and is being replaced in the next movie are untrue say source at EON. However the man best known for his fumbling ways in Fawlty Towers and his comedic antics in Monty Python is set to make his mark in the James Bond series. The idea is that he will play a character called 'R' who will replace 'Q' after the next movie.

A top European director has been picked to be the Cinematographer for The World Is Not Enough, reports Laurent Perriot.

Filming is already underway and most of the cast has been selected. Now, many German news outlets are reporting that Claude Oliver Rudolph will help Renard try to defeat Bond.

In Australia the rugby star who had reportedly been courted to play a baddie in the next movie has turned it down citing his training schedule.

Singer signed? -- Not yet! With all the rumours that have been circulating around the Internet lately you might think MGM and EON are close to naming a singer -- they're not.

The rumours that Depeche Mode have been signed to sing for the next movie, and the rumour that Posh Spice had been signed to play the Bond girl are not true, according to a source at EON productions.

Robbie Coltrane will return as Valentin Zukovsky, whose first series appearance was in GoldenEye.

There are dozens of powerful, beautiful sports cars out there with manufacturers who would love to put 007 behind the wheel, but the latest power car from BMW
looks like it was made just for Bond.

The rumours that Meat Loaf has already been signed to play the villain in the next Bond movie are not true, but the singer is in negotiations for the part.

In a bid to make Bond films more politically correct, a news report says the director has ordered a (clothing) cover-up.

CULTV EXCLUSIVE: A friend of mine was working on some of the costumes on T.W.I.N.E. and has told how she had the job of making some invisible costumes for a scene where Bond walks into a casino and puts on some glasses to see whose armed.

BIG BOND NEWS: MGM/SONY FIGHT IS OVER

A settlement has been reached in the battle between MGM and Sony for the right to make James Bond movies -- and MGM has the exclusive right.
Sony's attorney David Steuber told the Associated Press, "We have given up the universal rights to make a James Bond picture."
But one man who hasn't given up yet is Kevin McClory. The rights that he gained after settlement with Ian Fleming
formed the basis for Sony's claim that it had the right to make Bond movies.
According to Tuesday's Variety, McClory stood up at the settlement hearing and told the judge that he intended to continue his copyright claim against MGM. McClory reportedly accused Sony of settling the case out from under him. A court hearing has been set for May 3 for McClory to tell the court if he wants to pursue the copyright claims that Sony had settled.
The trade paper says that Sony paid McClory $2 million to use his claimed rights for the basis of a Bond series and that he was due an additional $15 million if they got the series off the ground.
This marks the end to a long and bitter dispute between the two studios that was due to go to trial later this year. All indications from the judge were that MGM would win the case.
The settlement reportedly entails Sony paying MGM $5 million and affirms that Sony has no right to make Bond movies.
But Sony also got some money out of the deal. MGM reportedly paid Sony $10 million for the global rights to the movies and rights to 1967's Bond spoof, Casino Royale.
