One of the all time great British comedies.
Blackadder started life as a large budget showcase for the talents of
Rowan Atkinson. Fresh from their success on Not the nine o' clock news,
Rowan co-wrote the script with the brilliant Richard Curtis. However
the BBC decided that the show was far too expensive and needed to be
scaled down if a second series was to be made. Rowan stopped co writing
the series and Curtis was joined by Young Ones writer Ben Elton.
Blackadder II was born and the show hit an all time high. Throughout
the 80's Blackadder just went from strength to strength. From the late
Fourteenth Century to the year 3000 Blackadder never stoped causing
trouble in the name of personal gain, with halreous consquences. The
show made household names of Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Stephen Fry
& Hugh Laurie. Guest performer including Peter Cook, Robbie
Coltraine, Miranda Richardson, Brian Blessed, Rik Mayall and Ade
Edmondson made this one of the most memroble and enjoyable comedies of
all time.
