To my count, only the second successful comedy show to combine science fiction and comedy. (After The Hitch Hikers Guide) The show follows the very amusing premise of the last human being alive being a space bum. Dave Lister and the crew of Red Dwarf, Three million years from earth desperately try to find there way back to home. There have been some brilliant stories since the show began back in 1987, but not everybody needs to know how Lister cam open beer bottles with his anus.

Red Dwarf VIII starts to be broadcast on Thursday February 18th at 9.00 on BBC2 The show is to be repeated on the following Sunday at 9.00. The first episode is called 'Back in The Red. (Part 1)' There are 8 episodes running every Thursday until 8th April.

CULTV EXCLUSIVE (BEWARE: THIS CONTAINS EPISODE SPOILERS) There will be a two part story also featuring the full Red Dwarf crew in which among other things will feature Kryten's penis!! (Which he made him self) There is also a sequence where the crew change a small budgie into a Tyrannosaurus-rex, and then the fun begins. Also Tony Slatery returns to Red Dwarf as the voice of a vending machine that gets into a fight with Rimmer. The new series will be shown on BBC 2 in February.

CULTV EXCLUSIVE (BEWARE: THIS CONTAINS EPISODE SPOILERS) Continuing from season 7, the crew find them self's at less then a hundredth of the size of Red Dwarf and the ship keeps expanding. After they manage to fly through some air vents in the ship, get Starbug stuck up a rats bottom, Lister's body restored and get back to normal size, they discover that not only have the nano-bots restored the ship, but also all of it's crew. Lister's of course meets up with the very alive Rimmer and the fun begins. Captain Holister throws the crew into floor 13 for misbehaving, where all the psychos that nobody knew the ship was carrying are kept. It is thought the the full crew will be deserted (Mainly by Rimmer) After he has to go to a Mirror universe to find the cure for a virus that is going to destroy the ship. There are many prison-esq scenes in the first couple of episodes including a very amusing Basket ball game where our heroes have to face the wardens. They eventually win by spiking there drink with a drug that makes all men stand to attention. (If you catch my drift) The show is shot on video tape (Not film) this season and includes many old faces from the first two seasons. (Including Nigel from East Enders reprising his season one role, Captain Holister and Tony Slatery as a vending machine. Also lookout for Kyten throwing Chris a 'Congratulations on your period party' Stay Tuned for more spoilers in the next couple of weeks'

It has been confirmed that after season Eight has finished shooting the cast will start production a a Red Dwarf, big screen movie. Although very few details are known at this stage it has been reported that the film will be very British in feel and not a big US effects only movie.

As yet no big news on season 8 other than Chris Barrie will be back for all episodes and the new season will be set aboard Red Dwarf . It will be airing in the UK in early 1999. WATCH THIS SPACE for the latest news and gossip.
